PROFILE:

   Dr. Inder Jit Singh retired from the IAS as Secretary to Government of India in the Ministry of DoNER. Prior to that, he was Secretary in the Ministry of Coal and Secretary (Coordination) in the Cabinet Secretariat.

   Dr. Inder Jit Singh has a rich and varied experience of over 36 years in the fields of Public Policy & Administration. Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business, Industry, Management, Adjudication, Law etc. Other important assignments held by him in Government of India include Director General Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (now Director General Trade Remedies), Additional/Joint Secretary in the Ministries/Departments of Commerce, New & Renewable Energy, Science & Technology, Chairman, National Authority Chemical Weapons Convention, Secretary Technology Development Board. He has also been Government nominee on the Boards of various Central/State PSUs.

   Dr. Inder Jit Singh has worked with the Government of Kerala as Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary in the Departments of Finance, Social Welfare, Disaster Management, etc. and as District Collector/District Magistrate and with Government of Punjab as CEO Punjab Energy Development Agency, Director Civil Aviation and Additional Secretary Technical Education & Industrial Training. As Director Census Operations, he was awarded President of India's Census Medal for outstanding contribution in the conduct of Census of India 2001 Operations in the State of Punjab.

   After doing his Post-Graduation in Economics from Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, he has done his PhD in Social Sciences from Punjabi University Patiala. Law Graduation from Jammu University and Post-Graduation in Public Economic Management from University of Birmingham, U.K. He has also published Articles in leading newspapers/magazines.
